Redhorse, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and Coast Guard Shore Maintenance Command, conducted an energy strike team demonstration to develop approaches and processes to accelerate the identification and implementation of energy conservation opportunities. The demonstration was conducted at six Coast Guard stations along the Oregon coast to develop strategies for rapid implementation of energy and water efficiency improvements at small, geographically dispersed facilities.

Redhorse used an integrated team approach to identify building tune-up, lighting, and water conservation measures that reduced energy consumption by 20 to 30% at each station. Redhorse also developed processes that to be replicated and expanded within the Coast Guard and exported to other federal agencies to achieve high performance sustainable building operations that deliver long-term cost savings.
